OGSM as a compass in a rapidly growing scale-up
Introduction
We helped BYD connect strategic goals, commercial plans, and local initiatives into one OGSM. Thanks to OGSM.com, everyone is now working towards the same ambition, with a view to progress and room for adjustment. No big plans, but concrete direction and ownership in the implementation.
The Challenge
Louwman BYD is leading the introduction of the Chinese car brand BYD to the Dutch market. An ambitious scale-up with a dual challenge: achieving rapid growth and switching between two powerful stakeholders: BYD in China and the Louwman dealer group in the Netherlands.
With high expectations on both sides and a team that expanded rapidly, there was a need for structure, clear priorities and a workable plan that did more than put nice words on paper.
Our Approach
Since 2022, OGSM.com has been assisting Louwman BYD's MT in developing and keeping their strategic plan up to date.
We started with a clear OGSM at the MT level: one page that gave direction to the most important choices and brought focus to the implementation.
We then worked together to translate the OGSM to the underlying teams (MT-1). In doing so, the OGSM did not become a static document, but a workable framework that connects strategic thinking and acting.
Our support included:
- Strategic sessions with the MT
- Supervision of the OGSMs team
- Feedback rounds with management
- Asking sharp questions and helping to make choices
The Result
OGSM is now anchored within Louwman BYD as a multi-year compass. It helps to coordinate long-term goals and short-term implementation in an environment that is constantly changing.
Concretely, it provides:
- One shared OGSM plan as a guide for all layers
- Regular strategy reviews, so that progress remains negotiable
- Better coordination between the Dutch team and the Chinese parent company
- Greater engagement with teams through clear focus and rhythm
